When clinically justified, related to care needs, and included in the Help Plan

Consumables

  • Continence aids (pads, pull-ups, catheters, bed protectors)

  • Wound care items (dressings, bandages, saline)

  • Personal protective equipment (gloves, masks for support workers)

  • Skin care products (barrier creams for incontinence care)

  • Nutritional supplements (prescribed or recommended by health professionals)

  • Mobility-related consumables (e.g., rubber tips for walking sticks)

  • Disposable clinical items (e.g., syringes for insulin)

Equipment & aids

  • Shower chairs, over-toilet frames, commodes

  • Walking frames, sticks, wheelchairs

  • Bed sticks or rails, chair/bed raisers

  • Pressure cushions and mattresses

  • Personal alarms and sensor mats

  • Hoists and transfer aids

  • Daily living aids (jar openers, long-handled reachers)

  • Hearing devices (not covered by other programs)

  • Assistive technology (amplified phones, large-button remotes)

Personal & home safety products

  • Non-slip mats, grab rails

  • Hand-held showers, tap turners

  • Falls devices (watch/pendant)

  • Bed or chair sensors linked to safety alerts

Clothing and shoes

  • Medical grade footwear prescribed or recommended by an allied health professional (e.g., podiatrist) to support foot health or mobility

  • Adaptive clothing or footwear designed for ease of use or to meet a clinical need (e.g., velcro fastenings, open-back shoes)

  • Compression stockings or therapeutic hosiery prescribed by a health professional

Products and services not funded under Home Care Package.

  • Regular everyday clothing and shoes (non-specialised)

  • General household items (toilet paper, tissues, cleaning products)

  • White-goods and household appliances

  • Furniture and furnishings (unless therapeutic and justified)

  • Entertainment devices (TVs, radios)

  • Home renovations or major modifications

  • Duplicate or replacement equipment without assessed need

  • Items for leisure or aesthetic use

  • Products covered by other government programs (NDIS, DVA, Hearing Services, etc.)

  • Supplements or vitamins without clinical recommendation

  • Consumables ordered excessively or without proper documentation

  • General footwear and clothing not linked to a health or mobility requirement
